America’s abolition campaign began with its revolutionary proclamation that all men are created equal and have a God given right to liberty. America began implementing this right in 1787, the first year of its existence, with the enactment of the Northwest Ordinance, outlawing slavery in a territory the size of the original 13 colonies. Within twenty years slavery was abolished in all the northern states. As for the “original sin” of enslaving the black Africans brought to this country, that properly is the achievement of the Africans themselves who then sold their brothers and sisters to Europeans at slave auctions in Ghana and Benin.

There are all types of psychological and physical effects from rape, sexual abuse, sexual harassment, incest, sex trafficking of young girls, prostitution, and all the different types of sexual addictions. Finally, and most significantly, there is adultery, which often leads to divorce and the break-up of the family. It appears that sex is out of control and causing far-reaching damage to our society.

Clearly our societies’ secular view of sex is a reflection of its prevailing worldview. If our world is a product of blind, material forces, then there are no rules for sex. Therefore, it means we are free to make our own rules. It means that sex can be just another form of recreation; it is for pleasure. In our secular worldview, our culture has no God to instruct us how to limit our lusts, our passions, and our desires. This explains how sex in our modern world has no real meaning or value. There is nothing sacred about it.
