Darwinists Can’t Live Their Philosophy

If life is essentially survival in an impersonal, amoral struggle; if staying alive is what it is all about; then keeping one’s mouth shut and looking out for number one is the rational and scientific thing to do.  Altruism, self-sacrifice as a virtue that emerged out of Darwinian conflict, is a theory only that does not touch the human heart.  It is a cobweb that breaks under any real pressure.

If Darwinism is true, there is not higher ethical law beyond that of survival.  Attempts to invent one are not only false at bottom, weak, and unconvincing.  They also betray the innate human inability of Darwinists to live consistently with what they say they believe.  Their minds assert one thing, but their deeper human feel ins say something that is more powerful.

Those who so far stifle human feeling as to attempt to really live according to a Darwinist ethic sink by degrees into a dark night of the soul.  The strong survive, the weak die—this is their ethic, their law, and their philosophy.  When they put it into practice, it becomes  criminal philosophy—one totally at odds with the vastly more enlightened and human concept of people as presented in the Judaeo-Christian tradition.

Atheism vs Free Market

The world still awaits a society that has embraced atheism and also operates a successful free market.  That this has not happened is not coincidence, but rather a consequence of the spiritual nature of money.

"Parenting"?

There is no such thing as “parenting.”  There is mothering, and there is fathering, and children do best with both.  It does not detract from the many mothers and fathers who have of necessity raised children alone, and done so successfully, to insist that mothers and fathers bring distinct strengths to the task

“Public” School?

If an institution that robs people of their right to self-determination can call itself “public”; if being “public” means it can turn families into agents of the state, making parents spy on and harass their sons and daughters because a schoolteacher tells them to; if the state can steal your home because you can’t pay its “public” school taxes, and the state courts can break up your family if you refuse to allow the state to tell your children what to think—then the word public is a label for garbage and for people who allow themselves to be treated like slaves.

Chemical Imbalance?

Chemical imbalance is a theory based on inconclusive research.  Even though considerable scientific study has been done, the conclusion is that the view is no more than theoretical.

There are true chemical imbalances in the body; but when they are present, the condition is no longer labeled chemical imbalance.  It is labeled according to the chemical that is out of balance, and it is given a medical disease label.  Low thyroid is a chemical imbalance, but it is called “hypothyroid” instead of “chemical imbalance.”  Low potassium is a chemical imbalance, but it is called “hypokalemia.”  High blood sugar is a chemical imbalance, but it is called “diabetes.”  When people talk about “chemical imbalance” as a cause for depression, it is because there are no laboratory tests to prove this.  Remember, an illness means something is wrong in the tissues of the body.  If there is truly something wrong with the body, it can be proved by objective tests performed by an objective observer.  The reality is that there are no laboratory tests that can prove the presence of a chemical imbalance.  The chemical imbalance diagnosis of an illness is not proven by tests, but is based on what a person thinks and feels as described by DSM-IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fourth edition).  Whenever the term “chemical imbalance” is used, it is as a generic term without proof that any change is present in any chemical.

“Capitalism” Is A Corruption of “Free Enterprise”

[S]tarting in the late 19th century the intrinsically good and purely Western idea of “free enterprise” was transmogrified into the very unpleasant phenomenon of “capitalism.”  Unbridled development, being a symptom of this, is thus a hallmark of the New Civilization that has overtaken the West.

But just try to convince a young idealist of the New Civ persuasion that “capitalism” and the cult of consumption are betrayals of Western ideals made possible only because the West has been defeated.  Good luck.  For the enthusiastically New Civ youth, the reckless remaking of the landscape, the suburban sprawl, the reinvention of farm life in the image of faceless global mega-corporations, these are all expressions of the evil Western civilization that enslaves its victims’ physical life, just as its Christian religion enslaved their minds.

It is part of our task to learn how to show these innocent victims of the thought-system of our times that the ugly expressions of “capitalism” are evidence of the disaster that will inevitably result when internal moral constraints are removed from the culture, when people are freed to pursue profit without any trace of a conscience.  In other words, to somehow get them to see that they are sawing away at the limb they are sitting on.

Husbands, Do Your Family Duty!

Is it not a fact that, increasingly, men have been abrogating their position and retiring out of it, and not doing their duty as husbands and as fathers as the result of sheer laziness and selfishness?  Husbands are increasingly leaving the discipline of home-live to the wives, to the mothers.  They cannot be bothered; they come home tired from work and ask their wives to keep the children from them, and to answer their questions.  Is not this happening increasingly?  The husband is deliberately vacating the position in which God has put him.  It is happening among Christian people, but it is happening still more among non-Christians.  The husband is evacuating his position, and leaving it it his laziness to the wife.

Same-Sex Unions Endanger Children

The journal Pediatrics reported in 2002 that “Children residing in households with non-biological adults were 8 times more likely to die of maltreatment than children in households with 2 biological parents.  Risk of maltreatment death was elevated for children residing with step, foster, or adoptive parents.”  We must recognize that all children living in same-sex homes are living with a non-biological parent and this will, according to research, increase the potential for serious abuse, neglect and death.

Research published in the journal Child Abuse and Neglect found that a girl is seven times more likely to be molested by a stepfather than a biological father.

Children and Poverty

The vast majority of children who are raised entirely in a home where parents are married will never be poor during childhood.  By contrast, the vast majority of children who spend time [in a home without their father] will experience poverty.

Christians DO NOT Propagate Hate

Christians who stand against redefining marriage and the homosexualization of our culture are deliberately and dishonestly conflated with “hate,” “dishonor” and being “anti-LGBTQ,” none of which is accurate.

Everywhere one turns, one is inevitably confronted with LGBTQ propaganda, forced upon society by those who’re antagonistic toward traditional sexual and gender norms and ethics which came from the Judeo-Christian value system. These propagandists of the post-modern sexual revolution demand Captain America have a boyfriend; they send social media petitions to Disney suggesting that Elsa – a princess in the popular movie Frozen – be a lesbian; they celebrate the possibility of a transgender stingray in the upcoming movie, Finding Dora, the sequel to the hit movie, Finding Nemo; they celebrate Bruce Jenner’s “transition” and they cheer J.J. Abrams as he boasts about a gay character in the upcoming movies in the Star Wars franchise. This cultural gender-bending and homosexualization is in addition to the destruction of the institution of marriage, and absurdity that one can appropriate whatever gender one “identifies” with rather than one’s birth gender, crystallized in the disturbing bathroom edicts of the Obama administration. Not wanting to be force-fed secularized and culturally damaging sexual experimentation doesn’t qualify as a ‘brutal job’ of honoring the lives of LGBTQ. And it doesn’t implicate Christian responsibility for a murderous, radical Islamic madman either.

Further, as many examples demonstrate, most Christians aren’t anti-gay or “homophobic.” They simply don’t want to be legally mandated into participating in actions that violate their religious sensibilities – sensibilities which are protected by the Constitution. Many people despise teachers’ unions, myself included, but that doesn’t mean all teachers are despised (only the incompetent ones). The same analogy applies here. Christians aren’t afraid of gays, nor do they hate gays. They simply disagree with the overly aggressive agenda to normalize homosexuality through compulsion combined with the cultural deconstruction of social institutions.

Darwin and Racism

Darwin did have a very limited concept of the value of human life.  His famous Origin of the Species is subtitled “The Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life” —ominous words, especially when we consider that in The Descent of Man Darwin wrote:  “At some future period, not very distant when measured by centuries, the civilized races of man will almost certainly exterminate and replace throughout the world the savage races.”

If a right-wing fundamentalist Christian wrote about superior races exterminating savage races, there would be anguished howls of righteous indignation from the secular anti-religious left, and the statement would be used as proof of the evil intolerance of theistic religious belief.  But, if Darwin said it?  It should be added that Darwin saw nothing wrong with this extermination—he saw it as natural and normal.

We ARE Repeating History

In a chapter entitled “Why Rome Fell,” Durant writes that a great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself within.  I am no historian but I am fascinated by the similarities between our own times and those described by Will Durant.  Excessive regulation, excessive government size and intrusion, and excessive and abusive taxation policies were only the tip of the iceberg.  The essential causes of Rome’s decline lay in her people, her morals, her bureaucratic despotism, her stifling taxes, and fall in population.  Sexual excesses may have reduced human fertility.  Contraception, abortion and infanticide had a dysgenic as well as numerical effect.  The dole weakened the poor and luxury weakened the rich.  Immigration brought together a hundred cultures whose differences rubbed themselves out into indifference.  Moral and aesthetic standards were lowered by the magnetism of the mass and sexual “freedom” ran riot while political liberty decayed.  Government no longer attracted first-rate me.

Government’s Interest in Marriage IS About Children

Marriage is society’s least restrictive means of ensuring the well-being of children.  Government recognition of marriage protects children by encouraging men and women to commit themselves to each other and to take responsibility for their children.

From a public policy perspective, marriage is about uniting a man and a woman with each other as husband and wife to be father and mother to any children their sexual union produces.  Marriage is based on the anthropological truth that men and women are complementary, the biological fact that reproduction depends on a man and a woman, and the social reality that children deserve a mother and a father.

Whenever a baby is born, there is always a mother nearby.  She’s normally in the same room.  That’s a fact of biology.  The question is whether a father will be close by and, if so, for how long.  Marriage increases the odds that the father of a child will be committed to the child’s mother and that the two of them, committed to each other, will be committed to their child.  It connects persons and goods that otherwise tend to fragment.  As the late sociologist James Q. Wilson put it, “Marriage is a socially arranged solution for the problem of getting people to stay together and care for children that the mere desire for children, and the sex that makes children possible, does not solve.”

Connecting sex, babies, and moms and dads is the irreplaceable social function of marriage.  Laws and social expectations can strengthen or weaken marriage in this role, and that’s why the government is rightly involved in this aspect of our lives.  Maggie Gallagher develops this idea:

The critical public or “civil” task of marriage is to regulate sexual relationships between men and women in order to reduce the likelihood that children (and their mothers, and society) will face the burdens of fatherlessness, and increase the likelihood that there will be a next generation that will be raised by their mothers and fathers in one family, where both parents are committed to each other and to their children.

As strong as the government’s interest is in the marriage of its citizen, however, it is important to remember that the government does not create marriage, it recognizes marriage.  Marriage is a natural institution that predates government.  Society as a whole, not merely any given set of spouses, benefits from marriage.  This is because marriage helps to channel the procreative love into a stable institution that provides for the orderly bearing and rearing of the next generation.

The Psychological Industry and Deception

The psychological way of life has infiltrated our society to such an extent that it goes unseen, accepted and undetected, affecting our thoughts and language, emotions, behaviors and beliefs.  By striving to see that which has become so common that it goes unnoticed, and by questioning the habitual reactions that reside even within ourselves, we can stand apart, determined to remain alert and alive.

The ancient Delphic injunction to “know thyself” refers neither to wallowing in psychological pain nor to basking in psychological empowerment.  It requires that individuals know their character, their strengths and limitations, their needs and gifts, their desire for truth and their tendency to avoid it.  Sadly, it is deception and self-deception, rather than these aspects of self-knowledge, which the Psychological Industry fosters.

The Betrayal of the West

It is tremendously difficult to convince modern people that the America the world sees on television and in the movies is a post-Western civilization, that it is not Western civilization at all, any more.  That thing, that thing America had become by the end of the 20th century, is a clear betrayal of the West.

More Socialism?

More socialism will inevitably produce more tyranny; dumping truckloads of money into the hands of tyrants will only increase and prolong the agony of the victims.  It is anything but compassionate.  What these places need is missionaries, not dollars.  They need the Bible, to teach them how not to allow corruption to steal their dignity and humanity, not advice from the IMF or the World Bank.

The Problem of Authority

The basic problem in the world today is the problem of authority.  The chaos in the world is due to the fact that people in every realm of life have lost all respect for authority, whether it be between nations or between parts of nations, whether it be in industry, whether it be in the home, whether it be in the schools, or anywhere else.  The loss of authority!  And in my view it all starts in the home and in the married relationship.  That is why I venture to query whether a statesman whose own marriage has broken down really has a right to speak about the world’s problems.  If he fails in the sphere where he is most competent, what right has he to speak in others?  He ought to retire out of public life.  The real breakdown starts in the home, and in the married relationship.  I am asserting that the appalling increase in divorce which has taken place since the second world war . . .  is due to one thing only, namely, that men and women do not understand this Scriptural teaching about marriage and about husbands and wives.

Modern Atheism

Modern Atheism is derived from moral causes.  Mankind is sinful by nature and rebellious, and does not want God or anyone else telling them what to do or how to live.  American society as a whole, as have other societies, has adopted relativism—there are no absolutes.  This is “virtual” atheism.

Men Benefit Greatly From Marriage

Professor George Akerlof, in a prestigious lecture a few years ago, high-lighted compelling research that indicates the socializing influence of marriage for men.  He explained, “Married men are more attached to the labor force, they have less substance abuse, they commit less crime, are less likely to become the victims of crime, have better health, and are less accident prone.”  He found cohabitation was incapable of providing these benefits.  Akerlof explains this is because “men settle down when the get married and if they fail to get married, they fail to settle down.”  Married men make better neighbors and citizens.

Temptations are NOT God-given

Child molesters, rapists, and others can and often do believe that God made them the way they are, with the desires and compulsions that they have. Bible believing Christians would consider such desires and compulsions to be old fashioned “temptations,” which do not come from God. All human beings are tempted to do wrong, though not in all the same ways, certainly. We are all battling something. Calling one’s temptations natural or God given does not make them so. Temptations to engage in behaviors that God condemns are to be resisted, not accepted as normal.

Liberals Fight To Prove They Are Virtuous

If every single thing on the liberal wish list for minorities, gays and transgenders were to happen tomorrow, a new list of demands or some new series of pet groups that need to be protected would spring up almost instantaneously. That’s because it’s not about the specifics; it’s about an arms race between liberals trying to signal their virtue by being willing to go further than other people in being conspicuously compassionate while getting in some cheap shots on their political opponents at the same time.

Conservative vs Liberal Worldview

Conservatives care about logic. Liberals care about emotion. Conservatives care about whether a program works or not. Liberals care about how supporting a program makes them feel. Conservatives take the positions they do because they believe they’re best for society. Liberals take the positions they do because they make them feel and look compassionate or superior to hold those positions.

Don't Light the Fires of Sex Unless Married

Many young couples don’t understand that sex is a progressive activity that culminates in intercourse.  They think they can just start downhill and then slam on the brakes when they reach the bring of intercourse.  However, this is a misunderstanding of how we were created.  Once arousal begins it is unnatural to stop short of full expression.

Sexual stimulation was designed by God to prepare marriage partners for intercourse, not as a pleasant activity that can be easily interrupted.  Stimulation, or foreplay, is intended for one thing only: precipitating a married couple into a complete expression of their sexuality.

Not only is the interruption of sexual foreplay almost impossible, but it is also highly frustrating.  When sexually frustrated, our bodies don’t care about Christian convictions. …

Lust has an insatiable appetite.  The more we feed it the hungrier it gets.  With each progressive step of sexual intimacy we take, desire is increased, never decreased.  That’s why allowing ourselves “minor” compromises of ever increasing sexual intimacy ultimately violates the spirit of the law and leads us to commit sexual sin.

One of the worst preparations for marriage is to become passionate before it takes place.  Many women today complain that their husbands don’t know how to express intimacy and affection outside the bedroom.

Evolution is Speculative Philosophy

Evolution is nothing but a theory; it is not a proved fact.  So when men talk about evolution, they are not being scientific, they are speaking as philosophers.  It is pure speculation.  I am asserting that we must never accept speculation or supposition as one of our basic authorities.

This New Generation Has Lost

No people is ever more than a generation, a generation untaught in the arts of civility, that is, away from barbarism.
