We have separated sex not only from love, but from attachment and commitment. The sexual liberation of the last 20 years [from 1986] has exposed the emptiness and unfulfilling nature of sex unattached to love. It is now easier for many young people to go to bed with each other than to form trusting or intimate relationships. It is easier for them to expose their bodies to a stranger than to expose their feelings; it has become less frightening.
