In 1984 the Thought Police could kill you for thinking truth and common sense; in today’s world you just lose your job or get kicked out of school, or ever beat up. But, as 1984’s protagonist Winston Smith says, “Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four.” Or that a man cannot change into a woman nor a woman into a man.
