The destruction of monuments is part of a larger attempt to destroy what it means to be an American. It’s an attempt to remove not just racism, but to discredit all else that was done by those who created our nation’s founding documents and established the foundational principles the led to making America what it is. In the minds of many people, America is so terrible the it cannot be fixed; it must be destroyed and rebuilt according to a radical socialist agenda that will be free of racism and free of capitalism, which they claim makes the rich richer and the poor poorer. They ignore the fact that capitalism has given countless people the opportunity create their own success—to the extent that those who live in America enjoy a higher standard of living than most, if not all, nations.
