Those who have less regard for historic Christianity virtually make the bed the altar of their new religion. Chastity is considered no more a virtue than malnutrition, and sexual intercourse is presented as the healthiest of “human sport” to which children should be early introduced. Those of more Christian commitment introduce “love” as the deciding factor, yet insist that this principle must find its application in each particular “situation.” Fornication is then allowed as an act of Christian charity, and adultery a sacrament of divine healing.
