Men and Abortion

The hookup culture only benefited men. And men have benefited from abortion becoming a form of birth control. Abortion on demand meant that men impregnating women to whom they were not married came with no consequences. Abortion meant that men didn’t have to marry the woman they impregnated. Abortion meant that men didn’t have to raise the child they conceived. And abortion meant that men didn’t have to pay child support. Turns out that abortion is many men’s best friend.

The Lies of Abortion

Pregnant women today are alive because their mothers chose life. And they still have plenty of freedom to choose — to choose when and with whom to have sex, and whether to use birth control. For those who point to rape or to teens who are victims of incest, every one of those women have to deal with severe trauma, and all of us should have tremendous compassion on them. But it is a lie from the pit of hell that killing the resulting child — who had nothing to do with the circumstances of his or her conception, and who is innocent, defenseless, and alive — will heal the wounds suffered by the mother. It will only compound them.

The Moral Idiocy of Gun Control

Gun control isn’t about stopping gun violence, but disavowing moral responsibility for preventing it, passing the buck to the cops, to society, and to some force outside our control. Gun control rallies are the virtue signaling of moral cowards seeking to blame someone else for horrors that they cannot cope with and that they do not intend to take any personal action to prevent.

Real Women Needed

The female body is a powerful thing. Anyone in advertising knows this. The mere sight of Bathsheba coupled with David’s failure to walk away and control his thoughts changed the course not only of King David’s life but the lives of countless others. Young women are shown early and often how to harness their sexuality, but too few are told to guard their body and their heart. Too few are told the truth about the physical and emotional toll of casual sex.

Our daughters deserve a mother and a father in their home and a host of adults in their life who tell them and show them women are to be treated with respect. Women who do not treat themselves with respect do not demand others do so; women have been told for decades they can and should have casual sex and they can and should fear no consequences, even and especially if a child is a consequence. Countering this damaging rhetoric is incredibly difficult for the increasingly rare parent who is swimming against the cultural tide.

Pornography is Immoral

Porn is immoral because porn treats persons as a means to an end, one’s own self-centered gratification. But at what undesirable cost? Porn isn’t simply “satisfying” lustful desires. It also shapes our view of sex taken into the marriage bed (if marriage is ever consummated) and objectifies women, among other things. Indeed, it is also linked not only to rape but to sex trafficking as its metaphorical “gateway drug.” When we watch, we inspire the demand. While not every pornographer (anyone addicted to porn) is a sex trafficker, every sex trafficker is a pornographer. Porn is the gateway to the sex trade industry. We supply its demand, and the providers cater to our “need.” Yet, the need is insatiable as it continues to grow and take on a life of its own to include and normalize Freud’s polymorphous perversity: sex with animals, sex with multiples, sex with kids, sex with robots, and so on and so forth to include increasingly violent sex.

Sexuality itself becomes identity. It becomes associated if not identified with who or what I am. Ultimately, it’s not all about sex. It’s much deeper. The sexual revolution on steroids with which we’re now seeing and was predicted is a symptom of the search for human identity, meaning, and significance, i.e., the quest for what it means to be human. This quest is orphaned when we kill God, and anything goes in His place. The existential quest is always a quest for “God,” but the “God” many seek is one made in man’s image.

Assault Weapons?

Now, let’s define a couple of terms yet again. “Assault weapon” is a bogus term deployed by the Left (and adopted by too many on the Right) to describe semiautomatic rifles that look scary because of certain cosmetic features. They are not machine guns. They do not spray bullets the way they’re sometimes depicted in movies and television. Sporting rifles like the AR-15 function in exactly the same way as many other (more powerful) hunting rifles and the vast majority of handguns — one trigger pull fires one bullet.

“High-capacity magazines” are, in fact, standard-capacity mags. Democrats want a limit of 10 rounds, even though virtually every normal size pistol magazine holds more than that. AR-15s come standard with 30-round magazines. If you’re in one of the millions of annual self-defense situations in America, especially if you’re facing a home invasion by more than one attacker, you’d probably be grateful to have more than 10 rounds. Labeling these magazines as “high-capacity” is nothing more than an effort to scare people who know nothing about guns.
