Here’s the hard truth: The world has largely ignored the Jewish refugees because their story doesn’t fit the convenient narrative of Israel as the villain. This is especially glaring in the global context of World War II, when 30-40 million people were displaced or expelled across Europe and Asia. While the international community worked to resettle these refugees, it became obsessed with the Palestinian refugee issue.
Palestinian refugees were place in camps in Jordan Lebanon, and Syria and denied citizenship by Arab countries—a policy designed to keep the conflict alive. Meanwhile, Jewish refugees were welcomed and absorbed by Israel, where they rebuilt their lives and contributed to the nation’s success.
