LEFTISM Wants More Power

After the mid-1960s, the progressive hangover began. Art and music took to the base, the abstract, and the ugly. The predictable outcome of the anti-authority, free-sex, anti-family, and drug-friendly culture from the mid-1960s did untold damage. The progressive story continues today, but now with more power.

The Barbarians Are Closer Than You Think

Because Roman civilization perished through barbarian invasions, we are perhaps too much inclined to think that that is the only way a civilization can die. If the lights that guide us ever go out, they will fade little by little, as if of their own accord…. We therefore should not console ourselves by thinking that the barbarians are still a long way off. Some people may let the torch be snatched from their hands, but others stamp it out themselves.

The World is Dangerous

Most Americans have no idea how truly dangerous the world has become. How many people and criminal groups wish to prey upon and destroy our society in order to enrich themselves. How narcoterrorists and warlords now control an entire nation right on our southern border. Yet, unlike in the past, too few citizens today understand that society requires those who reinforce the good over the bad on our behalf. They, therefore, must be reminded of that essential truth before it’s too late.

The War Against Standards

[To the LEFT] It’s a war against standards.

Standards in what constitutes the truth. Standards in acceptable levels of discourse. Standards in the meaning of citizenship. Most of all, it is a war against any standard of acceptable individual behavior.

To put it another way, we have been so bludgeoned with the obligation of endless tolerance and unquestioned compassion that we must no longer demand personal responsibility of our fellow citizens. To require some semblance of self-control of our neighbors today is to invite a torrent of ferocious public attacks and bullying from our sanctimonious betters.

To accept the leftist dogma that all behaviors are relative, even those that are harmful, stupid, or evil, requires not only an astonishing level of intellectual laziness, but also a kind of shameless moral cowardice. It is the modern version of what the late William Gairdner once described as “pandemic public ignorance,” where the people, to believe such misguided recklessness, become “dupes of appearances, wishful thinking, inadequate facts, and pseudo arguments.”

America is Dying

America is fast mutating from a republic, in which individual liberty is paramount, into an oligarchy, in which conformity is increasingly demanded and enforced.

Fight for Freedom

It is easier to fight for freedom than to preserve it, and the children of World War II vets passed judgment on their fathers during the 1960s and 1970s.

Somehow I feel my generation is responsible for the children of the lost decades who rejected most of the values and liberties we fought for and many died to preserve. Blood-bought freedoms are seldom cherished by those who have not suffered or fought to preserve them.

America is Deep in Barbarism

From barbarism to civilization requires a century; from civilization to barbarism needs but a day.

They WILL Come For You

To paraphrase the famous quote from the German pastor and Holocaust survivor Martin Niemoller:

-In the West they first came for statues of “racist” figures – but I did not speak up because it did not concern me.

-Then they came for statues of Columbus and Washington and Jefferson and Captain Cook – but I did not speak up because these are just ‘old dead white men’.

-Then they came for religious statues and monuments – but I did not speak up because it is just ‘religion’.

-Then they came for Christian figures and stained-glass windows – but I did not speak up because it is just physical stuff.

-Then they came for churches and Christian institutions – but I did not speak up because ‘we are the church’.

-Then they came for Christians – but by then it was too late.

Democracy Will Degenerate to Anarchy

Democracy will soon degenerate into an anarchy, such an anarchy that every man will do what is right in his own eyes and no man’s life or property or reputation or liberty will be secure, and every one of these will soon mould itself into a system of subordination of all the moral virtues and intellectual abilities, all the powers of wealth, beauty, wit and science, to the wanton pleasures, the capricious will, and the execrable cruelty of one or a very few.

John Adams (1763)
