The LEFT Despises Christians

In the U.S., the Left wants to impose its ideas and worldview on everyone. Most Christian churches still adhere to the precepts of the Bible and believe that abortion is wrong, that homosexuality is a sin, and that there are only two genders. For the “crime” of having common sense and following the teachings of our Creator, our churches are labeled by some secularists as “hateful,” and some are even put on the SPLC’s so-called hate map. The funny thing about the Left, particularly the woke Left, is that people of other faiths like Islam — which also labels LGBTQism an abomination — are fellow travelers. It seems only Christians are being attacked in this manner.

The USA and Christianity

In 1853, there was an anti-God group who sought to have God removed from government much like we see being pushed today. They wanted references to God removed from government documents, sought to remove chaplains from the military, etc. Their vision was a religiously neutral Government. But the problem with their vision, and with those who espouse similar views today, is that neutrality is a myth, a point which will be addressed below. 

The anti-God proposal was submitted in the U.S. Congress to the House and Senate Judiciary Committees for deliberation. They deliberated for several months and, in 1854, came back with the following report:

"Had the people, during the Revolution, had a suspicion of any attempt to war against Christianity, that Revolution would have been strangled in its cradle. At the time of the adoption of the Constitution and the amendments, the universal sentiment was that Christianity should be encouraged, but not any one sect … In this age, there can be no substitute for Christianity … That was the religion of the founders of the republic, and they expected it to remain the religion of their descendants.”

A Godless Culture

One of the rare writers of great faith, G.K. Chesterton, observed that “If there were no God, there would be no atheists.” Indeed, for a being they consider mythical, nonbelievers certainly pay a lot of attention to God, and especially Jesus. Two of the most common swear words in our language involve the name of God or Jesus being uttered in vain. We don’t see the same antipathy towards Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny, as we do towards what they denigrate as “your magical sky wizard” and the like. If someone is so sure God doesn’t exist, why bother to criticize him? I understand anger at God, but not a disbelief in him.

The Source Behind Multiculturalism

What's behind the current flavor of multiculturalism for some hardcore leftists is hatred of Judeo-Christianity and rejection of its God. This is evident not only in their treatment of observant Christians and Jews (especially their views on Israel,…), but in their attack on science and truth.  

In the absence of an absolute, there is no "truth"; there is only "power" and "personal narrative." Thus does good become bad, wrong become right, ugliness come to be hailed as beauty. A human baby in utero is "just a clump of cells." Killing it becomes a "human right." Teaching small children how to perform sex acts becomes "education." A man becomes a woman (and vice-versa) by proclaiming that (s)he feels like one.

Anyone who says otherwise -- first and foremost the God of Jews and Christians -- is the enemy.

God is the Leftists’ Chief Rival

God is the leftists' chief rival.  Christian belief, by subjecting all men to divine authority and by asserting in the words “My kingdom is not of this world” that the ideal society does not exist in this life, is the most coherent and potent obstacle to secular humanism.  Christ’s reproof of Judas—“the poor always ye have with you”—when Judas complains that the precious ointment could have been sold to feed the poor rather than applied to Jesus’ feet …, is also a stumbling-block and an annoyance to world reformers.  By putting such socialistic thoughts into the mouth of the despised traitor-to-be Judas, and by stating so baldly the truth known to all conservatives that poverty cannot be eradicated, the Bible angers and frustrates those who believe that the pursuit of a perfect society justifies the quest for absolute power.

Why the Fury Against Religion Now?

Why is there such a fury against religion now?  Why is it more advanced in Britain than in the USA?  I have a good reason to seek the answer to this question, and I have found it where I might have expected to have done if only I had grasped from the start how large are the issues at stake.  Only one reliable force stands in the way of the power of the strong over the weak.  Only one reliable force forms the foundation of the concept of the rule of law.  Only one reliable force restrains the hand of the man of power.  And, in an age of power-worship, the Christian religion has become the principle obstacle to the desire of earthly utopians for absolute power.

The Prosecutor Is No Longer Just Standing By

Did churches in ancient and medieval times sometimes overstep their bounds?  Of course, but defining Christianity in terms of the sins that have been committed in its name is like defining electricity solely as that which made the electric chair.  The key question in American society is not whether church will overawe state but whether the state will deprive Christians the freedom to criticize what the Bible says is sin.  Will media and governmental leaders accept a diversity of opinion and tolerate those who say what God has said, or will any such comments be labeled Talibanesque “hate speech”?  The prosecutor is standing by.

Why the LEFT Hates Christianity

Hitler’s main objection to Christianity [in Mein Kampf] was its “intolerance”—the same objection raised by the anti-religious left in America today.  How these secularists hate to be told that their way is wrong.  Their guilty consciences fill them with rage against bearers of the unpleasant truth that they are wrong.  This is why their fake “tolerance” extends to many sorts of evildoers, but not to people who challenge their presuppositions too strongly.

Human Rights Commissions Are Kangaroo Courts

One Canadian columnist gives his perspective: “For more than twenty years…I have been writing against the human rights commissions, which have quasi-legal powers that should be offensive to the citizens of any free country. They are kangaroo courts, in which the defendant’s right to due process is withdrawn. They reach judgments on the basis of no fixed law. Moreover [in addition to heavy fines], ‘the process is the punishment’ in these star chambers—for simply by agreeing to hear a case, they tie up the defendant in bureaucracy and paperwork, and bleed him for the cost of lawyers, while the person who brings the complaint, however frivolous, stands to lose nothing.”

"Don't Force Your Values Down Our Throats"

Often, as I speak on these issues across the country, someone in the audience hurls this tired old corker:  “The religious Right is trying to force its values down our throats.”  I have a standard response which I enjoy offering.  I inform my listeners that the secular Left has introduced sexual indoctrination and condom distribution to eleven-year-old public school students.  It has made the enjoyment of tobacco the moral equivalent to child molestation.  It has dramatically increased illegitimacy in America.  It has created an entertainment ethos that brings smut and vulgarity into our living rooms.  Take an honest look at the values that the secular Left has already succeeded in forcing down the throats of religious Americans.  How can anyone honestly confront the changes that have been inflicted by the secular Left and worry about the changes that the religious Right might force down our throats?

I contend that the values concerned Christians desire for America are not really changes, but simply the return to an earlier and legitimate status.  If you fling an invader out of your land, back over the border he illegally crossed in the first place, you are not guilty of aggression.  It is called self-defense.  You are worried that the religious Right might succeed in forcing their values onto us?  I am worried they might fail, for they are our values too.  Or at least they ought to be.
