America is Deep in Barbarism

From barbarism to civilization requires a century; from civilization to barbarism needs but a day.

The Homemaker Wife is Priceless

I think I can understand that feeling about a housewife’s work being like that of Sisyphus (who was the stone rolling gentleman). But it is surely, in reality, the most important work in the world. What do ships, railways, mines, cars, government etc exist for except that people may be fed, warmed, and safe in their own homes? As Dr Johnson said, ‘To be happy at home is the end of all human endeavour’. (1st to be happy, to prepare for being happy in our own real Home hereafter: 2nd, in the meantime, to be happy in our houses.) We wage war in order to have peace, we work in order to have leisure, we produce food in order to eat it. So your job is the one for which all others exist.”

Biblical Marital Love

Biblical love is based on the spiritual relationship between a man and a woman before any relationship of the flesh. They who are spiritually joined together become one flesh that never separates. They who are attracted only by the physical appearance constantly live in the temptation of seeing someone else who many be more attractive. The possibility of steadfastness in a marriage that is based on looks and mere sexual satisfaction is very small indeed compared to the spiritual relationship based on agape, love that seeks not self-satisfaction primarily, but meeting the need of one’s partner. The satisfaction of meeting the need of another is far greater than the satisfaction of selfish procurement.

How Do You Treat the Human Body?

A society’s worldview ultimately determines whether it treats the human body as another piece of matter or whether it grants the body and dignity, imbuing sexual relations with the depth and significance we all long for.

Do You See God?

The visible marks of extraordinary wisdom and power appear so plainly in all the works of the creation that a rational creature, who will but seriously reflect upon them, cannot miss the discovery of a Deity.

The Eye and Atheism

A partial eye is useless. Five percent of an eye would not give five percent vision--it would give none. What is more, even if all the physical components of an eye were in place, they would achieve nothing unless they were precisely “wired” to an amazing complex of nerve cells in the brain. Small wonder that someone has suggested, “Examination of the eye is a cure for atheism.”

Critical Race Theorists Are a Cult

Many are referring to the Critical Race Theorists as a new religion "wokism" and it does seem to resemble cultic movements. For example, the demonization of all who disagree "--Nazis! Racists!" to any who don't buy into Marxist ideology as delineated in terms of race, gender identity, etc. A false history similar to Mormonism or Jehovah's Witness is also on display in the accepted historical narrative as seen in the "1619 Project" or Zinn's People's History. What is not seen yet though-- it the one distinctive voice who will speak for all the true believers.

Do You Have Willful Blindness?

Willful blindness is a term used in the legal profession. It refers to any situation in which people intentionally turn their attention away from an ethical problem because the problem is too disturbing to deal with. We are afraid to look reality in the eye, because it may take us in a direction we don’t want to go.

Good Question

How do merely physical and mechanical forces--forces without mind, without consciousness--give rise to the world of purposes, thoughts and moral projects? How can a universe of mindless matter produce beings with intrinsic ends [and] self-replication capabilities?

How to Have a Happy Sex Life

The National Health and Social Life Council completed the most extensive survey of Americans’ sex lives ever. They found sexually active singles have the most sexual problems and get the least pleasure out of sex. Married couples by far reported the happiest and most satisfaction in their sex lives. Surprisingly, the most satisfied demographic group is that of married couples between fifty and fifty-nine. It would appear that when you are committed to someone over a period of years, your sex life gets better over time.

Affects of Sexual Immorality Among Young Women

The National Survey of Counseling Directors conducted a study, interviewing 6,500 adolescents. All 6,500 were sexually active teenage girls. They learned that sexually active teenage girls are three times more likely to be depressed and nearly three times as likely to attempt suicide as young women who are not sexually active.

American Slavery

What America did with the slave system it inherited from the British was end it. America’s abolition campaign began with its revolutionary proclamation that all men are created equal and have a God given right to liberty. America began implementing this right in 1787, the first year of its existence, with the enactment of the Northwest Ordinance, outlawing slavery in a territory the size of the original 13 colonies.  Within twenty years slavery was abolished in all the northern states. As for the “original sin” of enslaving the black Africans brought to this country, that properly is the achievement of the Africans themselves who then sold their brothers and sisters to Europeans at slave auctions in Ghana and Benin.

Problems Due to Misuse of Sexuality

Have you ever stopped and considered the number of destructive problems we have because of the misuse of our sexuality? Not only do we have an epidemic of sexually transmitted diseases, but addiction to pornography is exploding and causing all types of problems in relationships. In many cases it is ruining people’s marriages and sex lives. Then there are so many unwanted pregnancies, which lead to abortions. There are all types of psychological and physical effects from rape, sexual abuse, sexual harassment, incest, sex trafficking of young girls, prostitution, and all the different types of sexual addictions. Finally, and most significantly, there is adultery, which often leads to divorce and the break-up of the family. It appears that sex is out of control and causing far-reaching damage to our society.

Sex is Best in Marriage

The Christian worldview contends that the healthiest, most meaningful, most satisfying, and most pleasurable sexual experience is found between a man and a woman in a covenant relationship called marriage. A covenant is a promise--a pledge of love, loyalty, and faithfulness. A covenant involves continuity--the sense of a common future--to look forward to and a history to look back on together. A covenant means belonging--a commitment to a rich and growing relationship of love and care.
